Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce welcomed a delegation from Hunan Province in China to Hamilton on 14 August and signed a co-operation agreement with them that will promote co-operation and advancement of international understanding with China Chamber of Commerce, Hunan Chamber of Commerce and P.R. China.
Lanarkshire Chamber has undertaken to achieve this by:-
Seeking to promote co-operation between Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce and Hunan Chamber of Commerce in the provision of services representing the common interests of Chambers at an international level.
Examining ways of developing joint international policy initiatives for private sector business support bodies in Scotland and Hunan on areas of mutual interest.
Seeking to develop and promote research collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
In addition, we would like to work towards:
The exchange of staff and students between Lanarkshire and Hunan
The promotion of co-operative seminars, workshops and other meetings on matters of mutual interest and
The development and promotion of research collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The delegation from Hunan are spending 4 days in Lanarkshire and will be meeting First Minister, Jack McConnell, in Edinburgh later in the week. The Chamber hopes that this delegation will pave the way for closer collaboration between Lanarkshire businesses and China in the years to come.
