 Motherwell Fair Trade

At the most recent meeting of Motherwell Fairtrade Steering Group it was felt that efforts should be made to increase the membership of the Steering Group; there have been difficulties in attracting members from the local business community and a plea is now being made to Chamber members to get involved.

The Motherwell Fairtrade Steering Group first met on 20th April, 2005; Fairtrade Zone Status for Motherwell Area, including Motherwell, Carfin, Cleland, New Stevenston, Newarthill and Holytown, was awarded on 16th January, 2007, and marked by a Civic Lunch on 16th March, 2007.

To maintain Fairtrade Status progress must be made; a follow up report must be submitted within one year, and thereafter every two years.

The next meeting of Motherwell Fairtrade Steering Group will be held on Wednesday, 6th June, 2007, at 6 30pm in Civic Centre, Motherwell, Committee Room to be decided on arrival.
