Membership of the new East Kilbride Business Group which is affiliated to the Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce in September has virtually trebled inside a month! The small group of business people who quit the Business Referral Exchange because they felt it was losing its impact locally started meeting independently last month and decided to stage a Launch Breakfast. Business Group Chairman Jim Wright of Akros Print Ltd said: We were delighted with the response it was most encouraging to have representatives from 16 companies take part. It was even more encouraging to see the amount of business leads that were passed at the table, some of by and to companies attending for the first time. The feedback was very positive indeed, and were confident that, as word gets round the business community in East Kilbride, we will add to our membership. The business opportunities are considerable and we apply only two conditions: we can only have one representative from each trade/profession and Chamber membership is a condition of joining the club. Guest speaker at the Breakfast Launch was Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Douglas Millar who outlined the many advantages membership of the Chamber can bring to member companies. The Breakfast Business Sessions in the Torrance Hotel start at 7.15 a.m. in the Torrance Hotel, and conclude by 9 a.m. which allows time for networking before heading to business.
